📖 SONG OF SONGS 4
He :
[1] How beautiful you are, my darling! Oh, how beautiful! Your eyes behind your veil are doves. Your hair is like a flock of goats descending from the hills of Gilead
[3] Your lips are like a scarlet ribbon; your mouth is lovely. Your temples behind your veil are like the halves of a pomegranate.
[4] Your neck is like the tower of David, built with courses of stone; on it hang a thousand shields, all of them shields of warriors.
[7] You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.
[12] You are a garden locked up, my sister, my bride; you are a spring enclosed, a sealed fountain.
She:
[16] Awake, north wind, and come, south wind! Blow on my garden, that its fragrance may spread everywhere. Let my beloved come into his garden and taste its choice fruits.
Beloved of God, may His peace be unto you. We continue to get support from the scriptures that prove that the church of God is Christ’s bride (2Corinthians 11:2, Jeremiah 3:14), and that Christ is the head of the church (1Corinthians 11:3). Pilgrim, meet Christ in this song.
1️⃣WAIT FOR THE WEDDING
📍 You are a garden locked up, my sister, my bride…(Songs of songs 4:12)
➡️This verse talks about purity, or waiting patiently for the wedding day. Until it takes place ( on Verse 16).
2️⃣ THE BRIDE IS CHERISHED
📍From verse 1-7, it is about the love of Christ for His church.
The bride is called altogether beautiful with no flaw because she is clothed with the righteousness of Christ, and is given the gifts of the Spirit. Their deeds, thoughts and words prove that they have known the gospel.
👉If Christ is the head of the church and the church is the body, the neck on verse 4 means faith. Faith is an arm that holds salvation.
3️⃣THE BRIDE IS FAITHFUL
📍The unfaithfulness of the church to Christ in permitting her confidence and affection to be turned from Him, and allowing the love of worldly things to occupy the soul, is likened to the violation of the marriage vow. – GC 381.3
➡️Faithfulness is proven by clinging to the word of God and it’s truth without mixtures of human doctrines. Making God first.
👉Verse 16, the winds might mean the works of the Holy Spirit(John 3:8). Since this is the speech of the bride, she calls her garden a garden of her beloved too, which means that they have become one (as seen in chapter 2:16). Let His mercies abound, may Christ be in His church, taste it’s choice fruits, which means that He will delight in the deeds of the church that He enables them to accomplish.
