📖 SONG OF SONGS 1
[5] Dark am I, yet lovely, daughters of Jerusalem, dark like the tents of Kedar, like the tent curtains of Solomon.
[6] Do not stare at me because I am dark, because I am darkened by the sun. My mother’s sons were angry with me and made me take care of the vineyards; my own vineyard I had to neglect.
[8] If you do not know, most beautiful of women, follow the tracks of the sheep and graze your young goats by the tents of the shepherds.
[9] I liken you, my darling, to a mare among Pharaoh’s chariot horses.
[15] How beautiful you are, my darling! Oh, how beautiful! Your eyes are doves.
[16] How handsome you are, my beloved! Oh, how charming! And our bed is verdant.
Beloved, may the peace of God be unto you. We will learn the book we have started of Songs of Songs from two angles. We will look at it in the usual context love between a bride and a groom, and also in the angle of love between Christ and Israel, meaning between CHRIST and His church. May the Holy Spirit lead us.
1️⃣COURTSHIP IS NECESSARY
📍 The iniquity that is cherished by young as well as old; the unwise, unsanctified courtship and marriages cannot fail to result in bickerings, in strife, in alienations, in indulgence of unbridled passions, in unfaithfulness of husbands and wives, unwillingness to restrain the self-willed, inordinate desires, and in indifference to the things of eternal interest…. – AH 53.3
➡️The works and words of love from this song can be pleasant to the heart of the one being courted. However, God should be first. Wherever you meet be it the two of you or many, courtship that results in a lasting relationship is the one that put God first, and submitted to His leadership.
2️⃣CHRIST COURTED HIS CHURCH
📍Jesus has purchased you with His own life; you belong to Him; therefore He is to be consulted in all things, as to how the powers of your mind and the affections of your heart shall be employed. (The Youth’s Instructor, April 21, 1886). – AH 54.2
➡️In the upcoming wedding of the lamb, Christ is the way, He is the only One who gave the dowry (His life).
👉Let the enemy not discourage you because you are dark (Verses 4,5) or that you have many sins, Christ died for those, He cleanses them all. Though they are red as crimson,they shall be like wool. (Isaiah 1:18)
⏯️Today submit to Him your mind and heart He has courted you for long. You will never regret.
🛐GOD, WE ACCEPT YOUR CALLING, PROTECT US FROM THINGS THAT HINDER US FROM BEING READY FOR THE WEDDING OF THE LAMB OF GOD.🙏
