?1 CORINTHIANS 11
[11] Nevertheless, neither is man independent of woman, nor woman independent of man, in the Lord.
[12] For as woman came from man, even so man also comes through woman; but all things are from God.
[23] For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread;
[24] and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, ]“Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
[25] In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”
[26] For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.
[28] But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup,
[29] For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.
BELOVED OF GOD, happy day. How should man and woman live with one another? The ceremony of the holy communion is very critical, it was instituted by Christ himself; let us strive to make sure it’s goal is not messed by the enemy Satan.
1️⃣WHAT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED IN A CONGREGATION (1Corinthians 11:2-16)
???That time in church during prayers and gatherings women covered their heads, that is commended. It shows that Christianity is in agreement with culture when it doesn’t conflict holiness taught in the Bible. An example is where men wear skirts with no problem(Scotland, Fuji…). The goal is to make sure the way of dressing honors God in your society.
??A man being the head doesn’t mean he must be a dictator, and the woman becomes his servant. They have to love one another, complete each other and help one another. Let Christ as the head of the church be our example, as He gave Himself for the church and died for it, so should men love their wives. And they should respect their husbands as leaders of the family.
2️⃣THE HOLY COMMUNION CEREMONY (1 Corinthians 11:17-22)
?This is a holy ceremony. But the Corinthian Christians have considered like other idols festivals they were familiar with. The rich would first eat enough and in abundance, and the poor who did not have enough would follow. The poor continued to be despised by the rich. That had to stop. At the Lord’s table all people are equal, it is time to show love to others, it is time to humble yourself and wash the feet of that one you consider inferior to you.
➡Though these things that happened in Corinth “are no more”, when people are sharing; it is possible that someone may feel like not washing so and so’s feet.
?. If it ever happened to you, ask God to forgive you, ask Him love and humility.
3️⃣THE INSTITUTION OF THE HOLY COMMUNION (1Corinthians 11:23-34)
? The salvation of men depends upon a continual application to their hearts of the cleansing blood of Christ. Therefore, the Lord’s Supper was not to be observed only occasionally or yearly, but more frequently than the annual passover. This solemn ordinance commemorates a far greater event than the deliverance of the children of Israel from Egypt. That deliverance was typical of the great atonement which Christ made by the sacrifice of His own life for the final deliverance of His people.(Spiritual Gifts 3:228). 6BC 1090.9
➡️?the unleavened bread and juice, symbolize the body of Christ that was broken and his blood that was shed so we can obtain salvation. Keeping in mind that the leaven symbolizes sins as we have seen, the leavened should not be at the table of the Lord.
✍?This ceremony should therefore happen several times in a year.
?Paul says examine yourselves before the ceremony, and give up the inappropriate way you conducted this ceremony. Let us enter the ceremony keeping in mind that above all things we are given life by Christ because of his sacrifice. Not because of our righteousness but Christ’s. Ask God to sanctify you but do not isolate yourself from the table of the Lord.
⚠ Dear Brethren let us study this lesson prayerfully, this ceremony is very important, Jesus said do it in remembrance of me. Let us humble ourselves so Christ may reign in us, families will live together in love, the church will have love that will remove any kind of divisions. Let Christians make the society learn from them the love of the Savior.
