?1 CORINTHIANS 10
[5] But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.
[6] Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted.
[12] Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
[13] No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
[23] All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.
[24] Let no one seek his own, but each one the other’s well-being.
[31] Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
Beloved of God, peace be unto you. Today, we are required to learn from what happened to our predecessors in faith, and let him who thinks highly of himself rather seek God more.
1️⃣LE US LEARN FROM OUR ANCESTORS.
(1 Corinthians 10:1-5)
?It is amazing and terrifying what happened to Israel. People to pass through the red sea that has been parted and people walk as on dry land, through the desert and eating manna from heaven, walking with God through the pillar of cloud during the day and through the pillar of fire during the night, and forgetting all that, they rebelled against Him, in God’s justice that hates sin but loves sinners, they died with sins in the desert.
?Patriarchs and prophets were believers of the gospel of Christ. The gospel promise was given to the first pair in Eden, when they had by transgression separated themselves from God. The gospel was preached to Abraham. The Hebrews all drank of that spiritual Rock, which was Christ (The Signs of the Times, September 14, 1882). – 6BC 1061.8
➡Many times, we are mistaken to think that the Gospel began when Christ came to earth, no it started from Adam and Eve. Not learning from what happened to the ancestors would be a terrible ignorance.
It is true the love of God cannot be fathomed but again His justice is unshakable. As many Israelites perished in the desert, many will not escape perishing in this world and God has left no effort to get them saved. He gave His Son to redeem us, if you believe in Him you will have life.
☆Let us not be stiff necked like them, or those of the time of the flood. For instead of being punished by His justice you would rather be saved by God’s love.
2️⃣ LET HIM WHO THINKS HE STANDS TAKE HEED
??An evil influence has a perpetuating power. I wish I could set this matter before God’s commandment-keeping people just as it has been shown me. Let the sad memory of Solomon’s apostasy warn every soul to shun the same precipice. – 2BC 1031.5
➡️Surely, let he who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. Let us learn from King Solomon. God gave him everything, instead of continuing to grow closer to Him, he began to fall down following the lust of the flesh, God who never accepts to be rivalled could not abide with him. Examine yourself and go to the greatest physician for treatment.
?What a lesson for all who desire to save their souls to watch unto prayer continually! What a warning to keep the grace of Christ ever in their heart, to battle with inward corruptions and outward temptations!- 2BC 1031.6
➡️Continue to study about Him prayerfully, honestly you have not reached far yet, lean on Jesus. You are not better than Solomon in faith and knowledge of God. Keeping in mind that you cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons simultaneously. Choose, none can serve two masters.
3️⃣WHATEVER WE DO, LET US DO ALL TO THE GLORY OF GOD (1Corinthians 10:23-33)
?Let us not give offense or be a stumbling block to others. Why would you do, eat, dress,… in a way that offends them though you wouldn’t be feeling guilty? Brotherly love will cause you to give up or abstain from some things for the good of your neighbour.
⚠Dear Brothers and Sisters, let us ask for the ancient paths, and walk in them. Let us not perish being forewarned!
There are two paths, one leading to death an another leading to life. Today, choose life and live, choose Christ, and be saved.
?GOD, HELP US WATCH, GIVE US A HEART THAT STRONGLY LOVES TO PRAY AND STUDY ABOUT YOU .?
