? 1 CORINTHIANS 6
[1] Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints?
[2] Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
[3] Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?
[12] All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
[19] Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
[20] For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Beloved of God, peace be unto you. When we are talking about temperance this chapter is revisited.
Especially verses 19,20. The body we call ours, has been purchased to glorify God. We are His stewards who will be accountable for how we use it.
1️⃣SETTLING MATTERS AMONG THEMSELVES (1Corintians 6:1-8)
?Christians should not have conflicts. When it happens, let it be sorted within the church. (Mathew 18:15-17)
➡A brother who refuses to be examined in church, is considered like heathen or a tax collector, not a believer.
➡Let us examine ourselves, on our part let us be at peace with everyone. If we could see our own flaws, that would ease our conflicts with others before having to go through trials. Because peace of mind and calm among neighbors, are far better than winning in court.
2️⃣SINS THAT BLOCK THE WAY TO HEAVEN (1Corinhtians 6:9-11)
?Sins close the gates of heaven. Including homosexuality (verse 9) and others. Some deceive themselves into thinking that they can dwell in sin, and inherit heaven; no way, you cannot sow in flesh and reap eternal life.
?That is what Paul reminded them here that the gospel of grace has brought chance in their lives(Verse 11).
➡Justification always goes with faith. He who has been justified, is sanctified by God’s grace.
3️⃣THE BODY IS A MEMBER OF CHRIST, AND IS THE TEMPLE OF THE SPIRIT (1 Corinthians 6:12-20)
?Corinthians thought everything was allowed. They were reminded that their bodies had already been purchased with a high price, the blood of the Creator. They are members of Christ and temples of the Spirit, and as Christ was risen up they will also be raised up when He returns.
? But we can place no dependence upon ourselves in this work. We cannot with safety follow our own guidance. The Holy Spirit must renew and sanctify us. In God’s service there must be no halfway work . (6BC 1088.5)
➡Taking care of our bodies is un act of worshiping God who has given them to us.
⚠Dear Brothersand Sisters, when life has been joined with Jesus in faith, a person with his whole being becomes a spiritual body of Christ. Let us understand well that we are His own gained people, that we are bound to Him with strong fetters that cannot be broken. Let our bodies glorify Him.
?JESUS, TAKE CONTROL OF MY BODY, SO THAT THE SPIRIT MAY DWELL IN IT.
