Onward PILGRIM. GALATIANS 3: THE LAW IS OUR TUTOR TO BRING US TO CHRIST – Wicogora Mugenzi

Reading and studying one chapter of the bible every day. Prayerfully study the whole 3rd Chapter of the book of GALATIANS.

JANUARY 11, 2025.

📖 GALATIANS 3
[1] O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?
[2] This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
[3] Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?
[6] just as Abraham “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”
[7] Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham.
[9] So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.
[10] For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.
[11] But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.”
[24] Therefore THE LAW WAS OUR TUTOR TO BRING US TO CHRIST, that we might be justified by faith.
[28] There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Beloved of God, happy day.
We have to be careful because misunderstanding the gospel has led many astray. Let us well understand that justification, and salvation we get them by faith not by works of the law. We shall also understand the life of a justified person. May the Spirit be with us.

1️⃣THE FOOLISHNESS OF GALATIANS (Galatians 3:1-5)
✍🏾Galatians had heard and followed the gospel. Paul learnt that they were later taught to take eyes from the salvation based on faith in Christ, and they believed it would come from keeping the law. He said “you lack wisdom, the enemy Satan has bewitched you”.
✍🏾What they did, means we are doing well and we need no salvation from Jesus’ sacrifice. It is like a Christian saying I’m strong, I do this and that and that will earn my salvation. That is missing the goal.

2️⃣SLAVES OF THE LAW (Galatians 3:6-9)
🔅Paul in his Epistle to Timothy, describes the very men who are under the bondage of the law. They are the transgressors of the law. He names them “lawless, disobedient, sinners, unholy, profane, murderers, adulterers, liars, and all who depart from sound doctrine.” 1 Timothy 1:9, 10. 6BC 1077.2
🔰The law of God is the mirror to show man the defects in his character. But it is not pleasant to those who take pleasure in unrighteousness to see their moral deformity. They do not prize this faithful mirror, because it reveals to them their sins. Therefore, instead of instituting a war against their carnal minds, they war against the true and faithful mirror, given them by Jehovah for the very purpose that they may not be deceived, but that they may have revealed to them the defects in their character.- 6BC 1077.3
➡️The absolute truth is that we are justified by grace through faith. Those who have faith have no problem with the law because when it reveals to them their defects, they know Whom they have believed in, who forgives and sanctifies them.

3️⃣THE LAW IS A TUTOR (Galatians 3: 24)
🔰🔅 The law has no power to pardon the transgressor, but it points him to Christ Jesus, who says to him, I will take your sin and bear it Myself, if you will accept Me as your substitute and surety. Return to your allegiance, and I will impute to you My righteousness (The Review and Herald, May 7, 1901).6BC 1109.8
🔅 I am asked concerning the law in Galatians. What law is the schoolmaster to bring us to Christ? I answer: Both the ceremonial and the moral code of ten commandments. 6BC 1109.9
➡️Many people are deceived into thinking that before people were saved by keeping the law, and when Jesus came things changed and we are saved by grace through faith, and the law was abolished. No, the gospel remains the same all the time (Galatians 1:7)
The gospel can also become a curse, should we think that we must add works to faith so we may be saved or that it gives us freedom to continue sinning.
✍🏾In Genesis 12:1-3, The promise between God and Abraham was based on I will..( I will make you into, I will give you…) Abraham did not promise to do anything. Also in Genesis 22, we see that he had learnt not to trust himself, and to only trust in God. But sometimes we pray that if you do this for us, we will do this for you.

⚠Pilgrim, be aware of 2 problems that can compromise a honest pilgrim, the first one is to think his good works (keeping the law) can earn him salvation, an other one is to think that those who keep the law of God (revelation 12:17) are slaves to the law, no we have seen above those under the tyranny of the law in 1 Timothy. The pilgrim who should be at peace is the one who has believed in Christ and opened his heart to Him without rivaling Him, and who dwells and hides in Christ. (the shadow of the most high) . That one can say “ There is no condemnation to those who are Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1) and who knows that even if he dies he is blessed because he will die in his Lord (Revelation 14:13). A branch cannot bear fruit by itself without remaining on the vine(John 15:3) and that which does not bear fruit is taken away (John 15:2). Hold on to Him and never let go.

🛐HOLY SPIRIT SPEAK TO OUR HEARTS.🙏
